National Anthems !

Image
A national anthem is a patriotic song that is officially recognized by a country as an expression of national identity and unity. It is often played at national events, ceremonies, and on national holidays. The lyrics and music of a national anthem often reflect the history, culture, and values of a country. Some countries have more than one national anthem. The national anthem of Greece, "Hymn to Liberty" (Greek: Ύμνος εις την Ελευθερίαν), is the longest national anthem in the world, with 158 stanzas. The anthem was written by Dionysios Solomos in 1823 and set to music by Nikolaos Mantzaros in 1828. It is not typically performed in its entirety; only the first two stanzas and the last three stanzas are typically sung. The full version of the anthem is very rarely performed, usually only on special occasions and anniversaries. The "Himno Nacional de Uruguay" (English: "National Anthem of Uruguay"), also known by its incipit "Oriental...

Detect Red Flag Situations in any Relationship

Image
Two young lives ended recently. One is dead, and the other faces years behind bars with no chance of parole. For them, this post has no value now, but if one out of thousands of others reading this can learn something from it and walk away from possible danger, my effort would be worth it. So read on. It can be difficult to detect red flag situations in any relationship, as they can be subtle and may not always be obvious.  However, some common red flags to look for include: Abusive or controlling behaviour:   This can include verbal abuse, physical violence, and attempts to control or manipulate the other person. Lack of respect:  This can include belittling or disrespecting the other person, their opinions, or their boundaries. Lack of trust:  This can include being overly possessive, jealous, or secretive. Free Access Pass to Moksha ( තක්කඩියන් රකිනවාට වඩා ධර්මය රකින එක හොඳයි ).

Image
Most think that blindly defending those crooks who are hiding behind robes and engaging in all manner of nefarious activities will get them a free access pass to Moksha. Exposing such crooks too will not get you a free pass either, but if you can at least stop one person in robes from continuing on that path, you will be able to save him from distorting the sublime Dharma in the future. Defending Dharma is far better than defending crooks.

Whose Fault Is It Anyway?

Image
Our daughter was booked to travel back on a reputed airline from the Middle East. All went well until the aircraft was grounded due to a suspected bird strike. After holding passengers in the holding area for a while, their premium class passengers were taken out of the area, and much later other passengers too were taken out and served some refreshments. Later, some passengers including our daughter were transported to a nearby airport hotel. Passengers were left unattended at the airport hotel. No contactable number was given, and neither hotel reception was updated about the rolling delay. Later, only on her insistence, her booking was transferred to another carrier operating direct service to her destination by the airline. She had to negotiate with the hotel to get transport back to the airport, go through the formalities on her own, and received no help whatsoever from the airline from which she had purchased her ticket originally. We are aware that there are numer...
