එහෙම වුණොත්?

The peaceful protest going on at the famous Gall Face Green, Sri Lanka has now reached a critical point as no party is showing any signs of giving in or giving up.

ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සුප්රසිද්ධ ගාලු මුවදොර පිටියේ පැවැත්වෙන සාමකාමී විරෝධතාව මේ වන විට තීරණාත්මක ස්ථානයකට පැමිණ ඇත්තේ කිසිදු පාර්ශ්වයක් අත හැරීමේ හෝ අත්හැරීමේ සලකුණක් නොපෙන්වන බැවිනි.

With the government still holding on to power, despite losing its mandate, they plan another begging round, this time to the IMF and World Bank for assistance.

ආන්ඩුව තවමත් බලය අල්ලාගෙන සිටීම නිසා, එහි ජනවරම අහිමි වුවද, ඔවුන් තවත් හිඟමන වටයක් සැලසුම් කරයි, මෙවර IMF සහ ලෝක බැංකුවේ සහය සඳහා.

It was said that they expect around a 4 billion dollar loan to ease the current situation in the country.

රටේ පවතින තත්ත්වය සමනය කිරීම සඳහා ඩොලර් බිලියන 4ක පමණ ණය මුදලක් අපේක්ෂා කරන බවද පැවසුණා.

Assuming that this sum is enough and granted in full, what next?

මෙම මුදල ප්රමාණවත් යැයි උපකල්පනය කර සම්පූර්ණයෙන් ලබා දෙන්නේ නම්, ඊළඟට කුමක් කළ යුතුද?

Eliminate power outages.

විදුලිය ඇනහිටීම් ඉවත් කිරීම.

Make fuel easily accessible.

ඉන්ධන පහසුවෙන් ලබා ගැනීම.

Important items are made available.

අත්යවශ්ය ද්රව්ය පහසුවෙන් ලබා ගත හැකි ලෙස සකස් කිරීම.

Will the protestors give in if that is the scenario in a few weeks' time?

සති කිහිපයකින් තත්ත්වය එය නම් විරෝධතාකරුවන් ඉඩ දී ඉවත්ව යයිද?

My belief is that they will not because, first, they will have experienced the power of collective bargaining power, and second, their main agenda was not pricing reductions but good governance.

පළමුව සාමූහික කේවල් කිරීමේ බලයේ බලය දැන් ඔවුන් අත්විඳ ඇති නිසාත්, දෙවනුව ඔවුන්ගේ ප්රධාන න්යාය පත්රය වූයේ මිල අඩු කිරීම නොව යහපාලනය නිසාත් ඔවුන් අත් නොහරින බව මගේ විශ්වාසයයි.

Price hikes and scarcities were the triggering points.

මිල ඉහළ යෑම් සහ හිඟකම අවුලුවාලීමේ ලක්ෂ්යයන් විය.

The real purpose of this protest is to ask for good governance only.

මේ විරෝධයේ සැබෑ අරමුණ යහපාලනය පමණක් ඉල්ලා සිටීමයි.

That is why they have not taken any political party’s support or their reach has gone beyond hitherto held bogus religious and race boundaries either.

ඔවුන් කිසිදු දේශපාලන පක්ෂයක සහය ලබා නොගෙන හෝ මෙතෙක් පැවති ව්යාජ ආගමික හා වාර්ගික සීමාවලින් ඔබ්බට ගොස් ඇත්තේ එබැවිනි.

I know that our generation and the previous generations before us have failed, but I do think the new generation will do justice to all our collective failures.

අපේ පරම්පරාව සහ අපට පෙර පරම්පරාවන් අසාර්ථක වූ බව මම දනිමි, නමුත් නව පරම්පරාව අපගේ සියලු සාමූහික අසාර්ථකත්වයන්ට සාධාරණය ඉටු කරනු ඇතැයි මම සිතමි.

Abraham Lincoln was absolutely right when he said, "You can’t fool all the people all the time."

ඒබ්රහම් ලින්කන් පැවසූ පරිදි, "ඔබට සෑම විටම මිනිසුන් රවටා ගත නොහැක".

I am looking forward to seeing a better Sri Lanka soon.

මම ඉක්මනින්ම හොඳ ශ්රී ලංකාවක් දැකීමට බලා සිටිමි.
