Let’s Protect MMC Kottawa's Friendliest Resident!

An Appeal to the Hearts of Makumbura: Let’s Protect MMC Kottawa's Friendliest Resident!

If you have passed through the Makumbura Multimodal Centre (MMC) in Kottawa, you have likely crossed paths with the gentle soul. He is a remarkably friendly, calm dog who quietly minds his own business while navigating the bustling terminal.

But behind his peaceful demeanour lies a heartbreaking story of abandonment—and a pressing need for our collective help to secure his future.

The Story of a Forgotten Friend

This dog wasn't always a stray. He originally belonged to a professional who sold him to another professional before migrating to Canada. Unfortunately, his second owner eventually found the responsibility too overwhelming. Instead of finding him a safe, permanent home, he was let loose in a public area and ultimately found refuge at the MMC.

A Guardian Angel: Mr. Dharmasena

While some humans let him down, others restored his faith. Mr. Dharmasena, a dedicated member of the MMC facility management team, has stepped up to look after him. He voluntarily cares for this four-legged resident with immense compassion—ensuring he is fed, looked after, and treated with his necessary medical injections. We deeply admire and salute Mr Dharmasena for his selfless dedication to keeping this dog safe and healthy.

The Urgent Concern: Kindness That Kills

While it is heartwarming to see commuters and visitors offering food to this friendly dog, unregulated feeding poses a severe threat to his long-term health. Eating scraps, highly seasoned table foods, or random snacks can lead to serious, life-threatening digestive and medical issues down the line.

The Solution: A Vision for MMC Authorities

Social media is a powerful tool, and we believe the authorities can put it to excellent use to protect this gentle companion, who poses absolutely no harm or threat to anyone patronising the facility.

We officially propose that the management of MMC Kottawa take the following steps:

Adopt Him as the Official MMC Mascot: Grant him official status as a beloved, recognised fixture of the terminal.

Post Public Notices: Install signage advising commuters and visitors to refrain from feeding him random food items.

Establish a Structured Welfare Fund: Allow anyone wishing to contribute to his well-being to donate directly to a monitored fund. This money can be used to purchase proper, healthy dog food and cover veterinary expenses, managed in coordination with Mr Dharmasena.

Let's transform a story of abandonment into a beautiful legacy of community care. This gentle dog has chosen MMC as his sanctuary—let’s work together to make sure it’s a safe, healthy, and happy one.

Please share this post, tag the relevant transport and facility management authorities, and let’s give this friendly four-legged friend the official care and protection he deserves!
