Recent Visit to Adho - Covent Garden in London

Our  recent visit to Adho left me with mixed feelings and a few key disappointments, which are important to share to set expectations for future diners.  My intent is not to discourage a visit, but to offer a clear-eyed perspective on what you might encounter. The Beverage Experience We started with a round of drinks, which, unfortunately, was the first stumble. The Pomegranate & Ginger drink was incredibly diluted—it tasted predominantly of water with a slight sweetness and lacked any real punch from either pomegranate or ginger. The Gammanaya , which I believe is meant to be a signature offering, was palatable but tasted surprisingly similar to a familiar Cream Soda, making it feel less than spectacular. The experience was further hampered when our order for a second Ginger Beer was first delayed, then, after two inquiries and a total wait of about 15 minutes, we were finally told they had run out of stock. This lag in communication was frustrating. On the Plates When...

Porta Castello: A Delightful Italian Discovery

Image
Y esterday's accidental stroll led us to the truly wonderful Porta Castello .  It was a good discovery indeed!  This restaurant offers a superb selection of  traditional Italian dishes , and the food itself is  excellent , both in terms of flavour  and quality. The servers were a standout, being both accommodating and genuinely attentive to our needs.  And, to top off a lovely experience, the little girl, Tharushi, was a real star , adding a special, charming touch to the atmosphere. I have  no hesitation in recommending Porta Castello  to anyone seeking  an authentic and high-quality meal on their next visit to Italy.  If typical Italian food is what you're after, you simply must make a stop here.

The Compounding Effect: Small Choices, Radical Transformation

Image
The personal compounding effect applies the concept of compound interest from finance to your daily life. It's the idea that small, seemingly insignificant actions, when done consistently over a long period, will accumulate and lead to massive results. This effect can be a powerful force for both positive and negative change in your life. The Formula of Personal Compounding The core of personal compounding is a simple formula: Small, Smart Choices + Consistency + Time = Radical Transformation.   Small, Smart Choices: These are the micro-decisions you make every day. For example, reading 10 pages of a book, choosing to take the stairs instead of the elevator, or spending 15 minutes learning a new skill. Individually, these actions don't seem like much. Consistency: The key to this principle isn't the size of the action, but its frequency . Doing something small every single day is far more effective than doing something big on...
